Just keep knitting…

Here’s some shots of my progress on Ardessie:

I’ll be weaving in the ends when each section is done so there aren’t millions to weave in when finishing:

A pair of shorties for Daniel:

And, most importantly, a prayer shawl for my sister (she’s going through some trying times):

For those who don’t know what a prayer shawl is, here is a snippet from The Prayer Shawl Ministry that I’ve paraphrased: “a prayer shawl embodies thoughts and prayers for the receiver. It is a gift freely given with no strings attached. Made in prayer, as prayer, for prayer, the shawl is passed on hand-to-hand and heart-to-heart.” One of my fondest childhood memories: my mother used to have a brown crocheted shawl, and when we were sick, or sad, or just needed some loving, she would wrap it around herself and whichever one of us needed comfort and rock us in her favorite rocker. (My mother passed on 14 years ago. I don’t know what happened to the shawl.) The shawl I’m making my sister, though it’s knitted instead of crocheted, is very similar to the one my mother had. I hope my sister remembers, and that it brings her comfort.

  1. The shorties are so cute. I’ll have to try making some of those for my girlfriend’s baby grandsons next year.

The Ardessie is just amazing. Beautiful work!! Anything that detailed I run from. Keep it simple for me, but you are so very talented. Beautiful work. :)
